What A Hipstuh
I really hate all these posts with sepia-tone pictures of skinny girls in rompers, Raybans, and Jason Mraz’s hat. Same with the slighty-thuggish-looking, pouting, Asian girls with circles lens and dyed hair. You know, I get it; I really do. Admiration? Jealousy? Okay, maybe I’m not exactly sure.
I mean, I’ll be the first person to admit that it would be nice to be that tiny little Asian girl that all the guys seem to love. But I’m not. And I never will be. Am I okay with that? Most of the time.
What I don’t understand is why people feel the need to (re)post all these stupid pictures. Are you calling that art? Makes sense. But you know what doesn’t? The fact that all this “artwork” seems to have the same girl in it, some skinny hipster with nice clothes. What, do people over a hundred pounds not inspire you? Do you not find them beautiful enough?
Look, I have nothing against skinny hipster girls or their photographer friends. Good for you, for being beautiful, not that it’s a skill or anything. Go thank your parents. I just think we, as a generation, need to reevaluate what we call beauty (and a lot of other things). Because who are we to decide what is and what isn’t?
And, by the way, Tumblr is totally the hipster of the internet.
